Kinderwood Toys is a family-run business committed to promoting freedom in play and an unhurried childhood. Having seen the benefits of a more natural approach to education we have tried to bring you the very best products inspired by natural parenting and Waldorf/Steiner philosophies.
Almost all our toys are made from natural materials to allow children to fully engage all their senses while creatively exploring the world.
Many of our products such as the Playsilks are unfamiliar to families in the UK having been labelled as either ‘too alternative’ or only for those children receiving special education. Silk has a fabulous feel and we have yet to find a child who doesn’t love to play with a 9ft Giant Playsilk.
We have a large selection of wooden toys from sustainable sources. Wood is natural and regenerative; it has its own unique texture and grain. Each wood has a different sound, shade and weight, it even has its own temperature. If a wooden toy breaks, you can mend it and it’s recyclable.
We choose our manufacturers with care, most of which are based in the UK and northern Europe where there is a tradition of hand-crafted wooden toys. Where products are made in developing countries we are assured that workers are over 18, fairly paid and work in safe conditions. We reuse much of our packaging and try wherever possible to use recycled boxes, paper and tape.
Finally as a family-run business we offer a personal service. We are happy to answer questions about our products or make recommendations. We have two young children and combined with cousins and friends we have an extensive team of testers!
